FOUNDATIONS OF THEATRE
Grades 4th–12th
This 2-hour seminar is designed for those new to ACT or those who have not completed a previous semester class or camp for 4th Grade or older. Taking this seminar will qualify as the prerequisite to all acting and musical theatre-related classes for 4th grade on up.
Who needs to take this seminar?
- Students NEW to ACT this semester.
- Students who are moving up from the 1st-3rd grade into the 4th-6th grade.

Selections from Alice in Wonderland
This is a fun and creative class filled with a combination of great vocal technique, dance coordination, and acting for the stage. Students will learn a variety of Musical Theatre skills and techniques throughout the semester. The class will prepare musical selections from Alice in Wonderland to perform ON STAGE in the Semester Showcase.
Prerequisite: Students must have ONE of the following to take this course:
- Foundations of Theatre Seminar (This 2-hour seminar is offered the week before class begins. You can sign up for it when you register.)
- Previous ACT class or camp for Grades 4-6.
- NOTE: Students moving up from Grades 1-3 into this class MUST take the Foundations Seminar.

Script: Aliens Among Us
This is a fun and creative class filled with a combination of improv, games, and acting for the stage. Students will learn a variety of acting skills and techniques throughout the semester. The class will prepare a show and perform an original, one-act play ON STAGE in the Semester Showcase.
Script Description: Aliens Among Us is an original one-act comedy that takes place in a school classroom. Everything seems to be normal until some extraterrestrial “students” join the class. Even though they have space clothing and antennas coming out of their heads, no one seems to notice that they are aliens. No one, that is, until two perceptive students realize that they are from outer space. Unfortunately, no one believes them and the fun begins.

This class will offer more specific dance techniques in both tap and jazz, along with developing each student’s acting skills. (In order to teach both tap and jazz techniques, singing will NOT be included in this class.) Students will perform selections from the musical Zombies 3 ON STAGE in the Semester Showcase.
