Dance Technique - Level 1

Tap, Jazz and Ballet are foundational in musical theatre so they are important skills to develop. Here is your chance! This is a non-performance class that is designed to increase your technique in tap, jazz, and ballet. However, we will have an informal mini-show for the parents on Wednesday, May 7th, in the studio.

This Level 1 technique class is for beginners to intermediate dancers with at least 1-2 semesters of dance experience in tap and jazz. 

Prerequisite Seminar: Students who are new to ACT will need to take the Foundations of Theatre Seminar. This 2-hour seminar is offered the week before class begins. You can sign up for this seminar when you register for a semester class.

Shoe Requirement: Black Jazz Shoes & Black Tap Shoes

Times: 4:00 – 5:45 PM

Class Date: January 17 – May 2

Class Size Limit: 16 Students 

Student Ages: Grades 7-12

To join this class, students must have a recommendation from a teacher.  

Dance Technique Semester Dates: January 17 - May 2, 2025

  • No Classes March 24 – 29 (Spring Break)

Semester Showcase

This is a NON-PERFORMANCE class.  Instead of performing in the Semeser Showcase on stage, students will perform some dance numbers in the ACT studio for family to enjoy on Wednesday, May 7th.

A 5% discount will be given if semester tuition is paid in full at the time of registration.

Military Discount*

Students who have a military parent qualify for a 10% discount.

Multi-Class Discount*

We offer a 10% discount for each additional class a student takes in one semester.

Sibling Discount*

We offer a 10% discount for each additional sibling who participates in classes.

*Students may use only one discount per class and all discounts will be applied to the equal or lesser value class.

Class Instructor

Elyse began dancing at the young age of four and has been dancing ever since. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs in 2011. Elyse has been a dance instructor for ten years and has directed numerous dance productions including How the Grinch Stole ChristmasThe Lion King, and The Christmas Letter! She has won awards at statewide dance competitions, including Best Choreography, Entertainment Awards, and Best Costume. She loves sharing her passion for theatre and dance with her students and is excited to be working with ACT & ACT II!
