Tap, Jazz and Ballet are foundational in musical theatre so they are important skills to develop. Here is your chance! This is a non-performance class that is designed to increase your technique in tap, jazz, and ballet. However, we will have an informal mini-show in the studio for the parents on Wednesday, May 7th.
This Level 2 technique class is for beginners with some dance experience to intermediate dancers in tap and jazz.
Prerequisite Seminar: Students who are new to ACT will need to take the Foundations of Theatre Seminar. This 2-hour seminar is offered the week before class begins. You can sign up for this seminar when you register for a semester class.

Class Size Limit: 16 Students
Student Ages: Grades 7-12
Students invited to join this class will be emailed an invitation containing a registration link.
Semester Showcase
This is a NON-PERFORMANCE class. Instead of performing in the Semeser Showcase on stage, students will perform some dance numbers in the ACT studio for family to enjoy on Wednesday, May 7th.

A 5% discount will be given if semester tuition is paid in full at the time of registration.
Military Discount*
Students who have a military parent qualify for a 10% discount.
Multi-Class Discount*
We offer a 10% discount for each additional class a student takes in one semester.
Sibling Discount*
We offer a 10% discount for each additional sibling who participates in classes.
*Students may use only one discount per class and all discounts will be applied to the equal or lesser value class.
Musical Theatre, Dance Instructor & Choreographer
Shayla Mellen has a Bachelors of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts with a Dance Major and Theater minor which she received at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. As well as an Associate of Arts in Dance Performance on a full-tuition scholarship from Casper College. She has been dancing since the age of 2 and dance and theater are her absolute passion. She has been in many musicals, plays, and dance shows such as Double-Sided Coin, Collective Trust, Mary Poppins, The Wedding Singer, Six Characters in Search of an Author, A Rock N Roll Fantasy, and an adaptation of Charlotte’s Web through dance. She is the Show Choir and Musical Choreographer at Vista Ridge High School and Show Choir Choreographer for Falcon High School. Shayla has also choreographed some of her own original dance shows such as Resurgence and Psyche through UCCS. She has loved being a part of the ACT staff for several years now.
