THE AUDITION PROCESS
The Audition Process
1. Schedule your audition time.
Auditions: July 24-August 2* (By Appointment)
*If you are unable to attend any of the audition dates, please contact us at Director@ACTcolorado.net
PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in being considered for both acting and dancing, you’ll need to schedule 2 auditions; one for acting and one for dancing.
Acting Audition (30 minutes)
If you are interested in an acting or sword fighting role, you’ll need to sign up for a 30-minute audition time. A maximum of 5 people will be scheduled for each 30-minute time slot. (Please read the information in the Audition Materials tab for more information.)
Dance Audition (45 minutes)
If you are interested in auditioning for a dance role, you will need to schedule a 45-minute dance audition. (Please read the information in the Audition Materials tab for more information.)
2. Complete audition form (Bring to AUDITION)
3. Fill out the consent form. (Bring to AUDITION)
4. Bring your completed audition form, your consent form, and a recent photo of you to your audition.
6. By August 3rd, you will receive an email letting you know if you are being called back for a second audition or not.
8. Callbacks will be held on August 4 and 5 from 4-8 PM. (We will be calling back actors in groups depending upon the roles for which they are being considered. Those who are called back will be given a schedule for the day and acting scenes to read over. DANCERS will not have callbacks.)
9. The show will be cast by August 6. All performers who are called back will receive an email announcing if they were cast or not.
10. The initial Intensive Rehearsal will be on Saturday, August 7, from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, directly following the cast and parent meeting.
Memorize ONE of the scenes for ONE of the characters posted here.
No matter which piece you choose, you will be considered for every role. (It would be wise to be familiar with all the scenes, but only 1 needs to be memorized.)
Dancers should come dressed in dance-appropriate attire with hair pulled back and pinned off of the face. They should bring either jazz shoes, ballet shoes or lyrical shoes. If the dancer is en pointe, she should bring pointe shoes, too. (Please only bring pointe shoes if you are an intermediate-advanced dancer en pointe.)
The dance audition will consist of learning a contemporary/lyrical style combination and a small amount of improv from the choreographer. After rehearsing the combination, dancers will perform the combination for the audition.
The Academy of Community Theatre (ACT II) strives to not only produce a high-quality show but also focus on training each actor in the process, hence the name “Academy.” Since this is an academy for training, as well as performing, tuition is charged if you are cast in the show. Actors who are 22-years-old and older have often finished their higher education, so we waive the tuition for them and request (not require) only a production fee of $100.
Tuition: The tuition fee of $500 will be divided up into 4 equal payments which will automatically be charged to your card on file on the following dates unless you specify that you’d like to pay in full at registration.
- $125 due by August 7
- $125 due on September 1
