FOUNDATIONS OF ACTING SEMINAR
Grades 4th – 12th

Taking this seminar will qualify as the prerequisite to all Acting and Broadway Combo classes for 4th grade on up.

Who needs to take this seminar?

  • Students NEW to ACT who are registering for a semester Acting or Broadway Combo class THIS semester.
  • Students who have preciously taken an Acting class or camp in Grades 1-3 (Ages 6-9), but are moving up to Grades 4-6.
  • Students who have NOT previously taken an Acting class or camp for Grades 4-6, Grades 6-8, or Grades 8-12.
  • Students who have taken a Musical Theatre or Broadway class or camp, but are now registering to take an Acting or Broadway Combo class.

NOTE: This is NOT a stand alone class. It is only offered to those who are registering for an Acting class THIS semester!

FOUNDATIONS OF MUSICAL THEATRE SEMINAR

Grades 4th – 12th

Taking this seminar will qualify as the prerequisite to all Musical Theatre classes for 4th grade on up.

Who needs to take this seminar?

  • Students NEW to ACT who are registering for a semester Musical Theatre class THIS semester.
  • Students who have preciously taken a Musical Theatre class or camp in Grades 1-3 (or Ages 6-9), but are moving up to Grades 4-6.
  • Students who have NOT previously taken a Musical Theatre class or camp for Grades 4-6, Grades 6-8, or Grades 8-12.
  • Students who have taken an Acting or Broadway Dance class or camp, but are now registering to take a Musical Theatre class.

ACTING 230: Grades 4-6

Script: The Women Who Owned the West

This is a fun and creative class filled with a combination of improv, games, and acting for the stage. Students will learn a variety of acting skills and techniques throughout the semester. The class will prepare a show and perform on stage in the Semester Showcase.

Prerequisite: Students must have ONE of the following to take this course.

  • A previous Acting class or camp for Grades 4-6. (A previous Musical Theatre class or camp does not fulfill this prerequisite.)
  • Foundations of Acting Seminar.  (This is a 2-hour seminar that can be taken the week before class begins. You can sign up for the Foundations seminar when you register for this class.)
  • NOTE: Students moving up from Grades 1-3 (Ages 6-9) into Grades 4-6 MUST take the Foundations Seminar. 

NOTE: The curriculum for Acting 200, 210, 220 and 230 are unique, and designed to be taken in any order

Selections from Descendants

This BRAND NEW class will offer more specific dance technique in both tap and jazz, along with developing each student’s acting skills.  There will be one acting teacher (Katie Wyckoff) and one dance teacher (Beth Jordahl).  Katie and Beth will alternate weeks teaching this class. (In order to teach both tap and jazz techniques, singing will NOT be included in this class.)  Students will perform acting and dance selections from the musical Descendants in the Semester Showcase.

Dance Uniform & Shoe Requirements: Any Color Shirt, Black Athletic Shorts or Pants, Black Jazz Shoes, Black Tap Shoes

Prerequisite: Students must have ONE of the following to take this course.

Do you love to sing? Are you interested in developing your singing voice WHILE having fun? In Glee Club, we will do just that! Kristin Weber (the instructor) is not only a vocal soloist and voice teacher, but a Musical Theatre actress as well. She will combine great vocal development with fun Glee Club choreography. Students will finish the semester by performing in the Semester Showcase!

Students will learn a variety of Musical Theatre skills and techniques throughout the semester. The class will prepare select songs, choreography, and acting scenes from Willy Wonka. At the end of the semester, students will perform on stage in the Semester Showcase.

Prerequisite: Students must have ONE of the following to take this course.
