Student Microphone Details
Microphones & Microphone Belts
- We will be putting a microphone “belt” and a lapel mic on each student. The mic belt will be placed around the student’s waist underneath the costume. The lapel mic will then be threaded up the shirt and attached at the top of the shirt near the neck.
- The photo shown here is the belt that will be placed around your student’s waist with the microphone pack inside the large section in the middle. (The belt clips will be in the front on the stomach and the larger mic pack will be positioned on the student’s back.)
- The mic belt adds a little “bulk” under the costume, so try leave a little “room” in the costume at the waistline.
- If possible, we ask that a shirt be worn under the costume so that the microphone belt goes on top of the undershirt but is hidden by the costume. (A second shirt is not required, but most students feel more comfortable with this “buffer” between their skin and the mic belt.)
IMPORTANT NOTES
- We can NOT put a mic on someone with a dress unless she is wearing shorts since we will need to lift the dress to the waist to attach the mic belt. No exceptions! TIGHTS ALONE ARE NOT ENOUGH.
- Also, we can’t put a microphone belt inside a leotard. It will be placed outside the leotard and hidden under the skirt, pants, or shorts. If your student has a one-piece leotard without an additional skirt or shorts, the mic belt will be worn around the waist and will be seen by the audience.
