Join Us As We Celebrate 20 Incredible Years!

As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we reflect on two decades of inspiring young actors, enriching local schools, and uniting the Colorado Springs community through the magic of theatre.

From our small beginnings, the Academy of Children’s Theatre (ACT) and Academy of Community Theatre (ACT II) have grown into pillars of creativity, confidence, and character for students of all ages.

Our mission has always been to empower young performers, deliver high-quality, wholesome theatre, and make the arts accessible to everyone. Through engaging classes, camps, and mainstage productions, students develop talent, teamwork, and self-expression—while audiences enjoy unforgettable performances that celebrate the power of storytelling.

As we look ahead, ACT and ACT II remain committed to nurturing creativity, connecting with schools and families, and strengthening our community through theatre. Here’s to 20 years of extraordinary performances and to many more years of laughter, learning, and stage magic!

Heartfelt Reflections & Gratitude from Our Alumni

“We are so grateful for ACT and ACT II! Both my girls started doing semester showcases with ACT when they were very young and have had the opportunity to be part of ACT II productions as they got older. The leadership and staff at ACT and ACT II have been incredible! They’ve positively impacted my kids in developing their performing arts skills while simultaneously growing their character, confidence, community, and leadership.” Jennifer Cicero
“Being part of ACT and ACT II for so many years has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. Every show brought challenges, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. It was a safe, wholesome place to grow–not just as an actor, but as a person– and the impact it has had on me is something I carry with deep gratitude.

My love for theater was shaped here, and I can’t wait for my own children to experience the same joy, creativity, and community. Happy 20th anniversary ACT!”

– Micayla Hernandez Burton (2007-2019)

“It has helped me with stage fright, trying new things, and making new friends.” – M. Smith (2023 – present)

“My children grew in their love of theater and performing. It has been amazing to see the growth of the company from when they started small in a church to now performing at the ENT center with ACTII. Seeing my youngest daughter come full circle – from a six-year-old in her first class, to being part of main stage productions, and now teaching – it’s so fulfilling!”
– R. Lowery (2006 – present)

“ACT & ACT II has created a safe environment and given me the tools and opportunities to become an ever learning performer. Being at ACT for nearly 11 years has impacted me more than I can put into words. But my favorite part of ACT & ACT II is truly the community. From my very first semester class to being part of the production for main-stage productions, the family that ACT has created is truly something that stood out and has kept me coming back.

And I try not to exaggerate when I say; I am an actor because I took a class at ACT, I am a singer because of a teacher at ACT, I am a writer because of a class at ACT, I am a team player because of a production at ACT.  They [ACT] have given me so much, and I know there is still more to come. Happy 20th ACT & ACT II!! Thank you for all the memories and lessons, thank you for getting me started.”

20th Anniversary ACT & ACTII

“Having been a part of ACT and ACT II for many years, it’s difficult to choose just one favorite memory to share; however, I will share that this organization was likely the single most impactful experience of my life throughout my teenage years. I saw my first mainstage production when I was 11 years old, and took my first ACT class the following Fall. I was cast in my first ACT II mainstage the following Spring. From there, I participated in shows throughout middle school and high school. ACT and ACT II became my safe place. I discovered my love of performing and creating, found friends and teachers who saw me and encouraged me, and was challenged in new and lasting ways.

I moved to Colorado Springs when I was struggling to find confidence in who I was. I felt like I didn’t fit in at school and found it difficult to find friends that I felt truly comfortable being myself around. While ACT and ACT II taught me practical skills in acting, singing, dancing, and stage management, I can honestly say that the greatest gift they gave me was teaching me to be unapologetically myself. This organization gave me the freedom to fail, the freedom to be creative, and the freedom to be silly! I cannot share enough all the ways that ACT and ACT II have impacted my life. Cheers to 20 years!” Brenna Carson (Pavey)

“Being part of ACT and ACT II has been one of the best parts of growing up. Not only have I made friendships that feel like family—people I can count on through every high and low—but I’ve also had the chance to grow as a performer.

From strengthening my singing, dancing, and acting skills to sharing late-night rehearsals and spontaneous hangouts, these experiences have given me unforgettable memories I’ll carry forever. More than anything, I’ve found my community here.”
– S. Lowery 2012-present

Just a few months after I did my first ACT camp, I got a callback for my church’s Christmas musical. Neither my mom nor anyone else in my family had any idea what that was, so she reached out to Lynn for guidance. Despite my only having attended that one camp and the show in question being completely unrelated to ACT, Lynn took the time to personally explain the callback process to my mom. Throughout years of camps, classes, productions, and volunteering, I’m grateful to ACT for many such moments of personalized care, attention, and education that allowed me to foster a passion for (and career in) theatre. Mo Yeh (2006-2013)

The minute I walked in to my first MainStage show with ACT II, I knew it was where I was meant to be. Through the years, I’ve made so many friends, memories, and times I’ll cherish forever. I need to thank the Lord for Mrs. Lynn creating this wonderful company 20 years ago because it truly has changed my life. One of my favorite memories was when we were choreographing a song because my friend Luka and I got to dance together and I was a head taller than him! – Kaitlyn Cicero
